Más allá del pastiche ad infinitum que nos prodiga con generosidad la escena musical de esta década, en los suburbios americanos persisten las bandas que solo necesitan de sus amplificadores y un puñado de canciones con aspiraciones de sonar en las fiestas de colleges o en los festivales de verano. Vieja escuela que deposita toda su fe en el poder del coro/estribillo de single FM, en las guitarras que pueden estremecer e incendiar los cuartos adolescentes en todo el mundo.
Free Energy es el más reciente y feliz encuentro entre rock y pop. La ironía y malditismo están desterrados de su universo. Desde sus letras despiden actitud positiva y buenas vibras, y el bombardeo de guitarras destila stadium rock en cada tema. El glam pop de los setenta baña su debut discográfico y promete alborotar el verano norteamericano. Como en los noventa, (recuerden a Pavement y Weezer) parece que el tiempo de los slacker ha vuelto. Unas Chuck Taylor retozando en el patio luego que las cervezas han surtido efecto celebran ese momento.

Their lyrics exude positive attitude and good vibes and their guitar explosions distill stadium rock in each song. Their debut album is dressed in the glam pop of the seventies and promises to shake up the American summer. Like in the nineties (remember Pavement and Weezer), it seems that the time of slackers is back. A pair of Chuck Taylors frolicking at the backyard after the beers have done their part celebrate that moment.
